World Children’s Day 2021 is on Saturday, 20 November 2021. Children’s Day is an international observance and not a public holiday. All the UN member countries celebrate Childrens’ Day according to their specified dates.
Children Day is a fun day with a serious message. International Children’s Day offers us an opportunity to promote and celebrate children’s rights that will build a better world for them.

Theme of World Children’s Day 2021

The theme of International children day is,
” Investing in our future means investing in our children”

United Nations (UN) provides a particular theme every year for World Children Day to promote awareness among children, togetherness and improving children’s welfare.

Color of Children’s Day

The blue color is the symbol for children rights on Children Day. You can show your support by turning blue on 20th November.

History of World Children’s Day

In 1857, Dr. Charles Leonard started this day by naming it Rose Day in the United Kingdom.
In 1920, the Republic of Turkey officially acknowledged Children’s Day as a national holiday.
In 1950, many countries started to celebrate June 1, as “Children Protection Day”
In 1954 United Nations established “Universal Children’s Day” with a date of 20th November yearly. The UN General Assembly prescribed all countries to come up with a day for children at a suitable date of their choice to promote awareness about children’s rights, togetherness and improving children’s welfare.
On November 20, 1959, United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and on 20, November 1989 UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The anniversary of both these Declaration and Convention is also marked by the UN on 20th November since 1990.

Children's Day Celebrations

On the occasion of Happy Children Day, special discounts on food, movie tickets, gifts and toys are offered. Entrance to certain parks or tourist places is discounted or free for children on children day. In some schools, students present different performances like tableau shows and speech competitions.
Educational institutes, schools, electronic and print media and all social plate forms can play an important role in Children Day Celebrations. They can educate and institute children and parents, society and departments to the basic rights of children, for instance, the right to education, the right to health, the right to play, and the right to family life.
